Defining WIL

  • Work Integrated Learning means Learning that takes place through the medium of work. The deference between the Work Integrated Learning and any other kind of learning is the presence of real work
  • The purpose of WIL in TVET colleges is to develop the students’ competence (i.e. their ability to apply knowledge and skills to the tasks and demands of workplace) and to improve their employability

In 2016 Bristol Training College established the Work Integrated learning Programme (WIL) which aims to strategically inspire students to embrace prospective future careers, thereby contributing to economic innovation and growth. Bristol Training College is mandated to integrate WIL into its curricula and qualifications in order to promote student career development. This is an invaluable opportunity for facilitators to not only integrate theory and practice, but to expose graduates-to-be to the world of work and assess their experiential learning.
